Me: Have a look at my CNC v2.1 that uses the same mechanics, but bipolar stepper motors. Using belts is a bad idea if you want to use this machine as a CNC router!

Me: Wie auf der Seite beschrieben, kann die Maschine momentan nur spezielle SVG Dateien abarbeiten. An einer G-code Implementation arbeite ich noch. CNC v2.1 kann mit grbl bereits G-code bearbeiten.

Me: The Uno is the only one I have tested the software with, however it should run on other Arduinos as well. Note that e.g. the M0 uses 3.3V logic level, thus you must run the sensors with 3.3V as well.

Du bist mein Held! Hab gerade ein Video von dir gesehen wie du anhand vom optischen abtasten dieser Messstreifen zeigst wie es auch ohne Schrittmotoren gut und besser geht.

Ich hab noch 1,5 Monate bis ich 30 bin, und mir fest vorgenommen bis dahin einen cnc laser cutter für dünnes und leichtes Material zu bauen, und ich denke wenn ich mich ran halte könnte es was mit der neu angemieteten Werkstatt werden :)

Me: 1,5 Monate ist ein knapper Zeitrahmen, also ran an's Werkzeug und gib "Bescheid" wenn deine Maschine läuft.

Me: I don't see a need for a graphic input. You can get all controls through keys, which is more comfortable in my mind and needs less ressources. That's why I have no plans to write a graphical interface.

I have small doubt, what type o relay is that. How to connect my 220volts Bosch router. if I want to add another relay for coolant dispensing motor(12v,9amps), to cool down my router bit. Where to connect that second relay and transistor?
If I add another transistor and relay pair, do I need to add extra code? If yes, what is that..

Me: Simply connect both gate pins of the two transistors to Arduino A1. Whenever the router is turned on, the coolant is also turned on.

let's assume that i have drawn the *svg file and connected everything properly. now i want to send this file to arduino.
i assume that the program you have written converts the (svg image file) to commands (line, arc.. etc ) as G code (or not)
I am using Windows OS and i don't know how to run *.c in command line as the instructions you have says "open terminal in ubuntu"

Me: Sorry, but I don't code for closed source Spyware. The program I have written runs in a Linux Terminal. You can get Linux for free (e.g. Ubuntu, make a backup of your data before installing a new OS).
Yes, once you have followed the installation instructions in the readme, you can select a *.svg file and it is transferred into special commands and sent to the Arduino. G-code is currently not supported, but I am working on a new software that will accept G-Code.

Me: I can't teach you programing in a comment. The program I have written for this CNC reads coordinates from a file (*.svg) and sends the necessary step commands to the Arduino. Read the source code that is available as download to get the details.

Me: Die Masse KEINER H-Brücke wird mit Vin des Arduino verbunden! Die Masseanschlüsse beider H-Brücken, des Arduino und des Netzteiles sind miteinander verbunden, da Masse (GND) die Referenz für alle anderen Spannungen ist.

Me: Threaded rods are available in 1000mm length here in Germany. I don't know where to get longer ones. I recommend using 6mm diameter for my design. The overall backlash with a 10mm rod is usually worser.
Another hint:
Small is beautiful (especially if this is your first build)! The accuracy and stiffnes of a CNC is worser the larger the construction. It's also no fast machine, thus driving in a 1300x1300mm area will take a very long time...

Me: You can't expect the terminal program to connect to the Arduino if you have not done the upload of the Arduino sketch. Does the command:
ls /dev

Me: Usually you are asked if you'd like to add your username to the "dialout" group when starting the Arduino IDE for the first time. You should answer that box with "yes". Reboot linux afterwards to make the changes take affect.
You can also add your username to that group by opening a terminal and type:
sudo adduser [YourUserName] dialout
Reboot and try again.

i've successfully extract the cnc_v2 directory from zip file, but i couldn't open command-CNC.c...i oso tried" gcc commands-CNC.c -lm -o commands-CNC"   to open the CNC.c. But fails.

Me: Whenever something failes, you get an error message. That message is meant to be read, understood and used to find what's going wrong. Give me that error message from the first step that goes wrong. I guess that's when you try to compile the code.
Your installation direction is:
/home/YourUserName/downloads
and of course not
downloads/CNC_v2. zip
Note that Linux directories and file names are case sensitive!

Me: Sorry, but I never carved fabric with one of my machines. Industrial machines use laser or ultrasonic heads. Search for vinyl cutter heads. They might work as well.

I can't explain the code of my CNC machine in a comment, but I will start a series about "Physical computing", soon. In that series I will explain how to switch motors and so step by step how to write your own code for a CNC. But this will take months, so be patient.
You need an Arduino or a Rasperry Pi so switch the Transistors. A normal PC has no pins you can connect a transistor to.

Guten Abend,
Seit einige Zeit fängt meine Maschine Probleme zu bekommen und ich kann diese nicht loswerden. Habe die Arduino neu eingelesen, habe die H-Brücken erneuert, alle Löt / Verbindungen kontrolliert, aber das Problem bleibt bestehen. Auch wenn ich mehrmals eine Datei und ich hab auch verschiedene versucht, bleibt die Fräse irgendwo stehen und nicht immer an die gleiche stelle und verweigert seine Dienste. Was könnte hier das Problem sein. USB- Kabel auch erneuert!

Me: Klemmt die Mechanik oder ist ein Motor am Schwächeln? Wenn die Maschine steht, mal an allen Gewindestangen drehen und sehen, bei welcher die Maschine weiterläuft. Das ist die Achse die Probleme macht.

Hallo Norbert,

mich wuerde brennend interessieren, wie ich mit der ardino-IDE erreiche dass zwei achsen eine Linie

von 100 mm Länge und 15 grad gedreht zur X achse macht.

da sind ja zwei schrittmotoren,  diese muessen ja gleichzeitig angestuert werden.

Die Software zur Ansteuerung der Maschine ist in C geschrieben und diese wird über die Kommandozeile bedient. Über das Menü kann die Datei mit dem Testmuster angewählt und es können verschiedene Parameter festgelegt werden

Me: You're welcome. Have also a look at the mechanics of my CNC v3.2. The linkage between threaded rod and carriages as well as the simple gear is an option for improvement for my CNC v2.0 as well. I will do an overhaul of the mechanics when v3.2 is finished - there is always something to improve.

Goodday
I would just like to say thanks for your cnc machine.
But I'm lost with the software. What I mean is, what software do you use to communicate to the arduino? I built a cnc plotter out of old cd rom's I had to use Processing 3 to communicate to the arduino to draw the pic. All that you have said is, The software used to control the machine is written in C and it is running from the command line. With the menu you can choose the test pattern and set some variables. Thanks Nicholas Davies

Me: The software I have written for my machines is for my machines only. It won't work on yours, at least not without modifications. The sources are available in the section Download.

Absolutely fantastic sir, you are to be saluted. I personally don't have the funds to make such a project, however giving the plans away for free as you have done gives me hope for mankind. What I mean by this is, I see so much greed in the world today, it is everywhere and it is more prominent than ever because of the Internet I feel.
