I am sorry for my previous comment. I will explain the problem.

The Arduino Uno that came with my machine did not work. So I used another one that I had. I installed the Grbl from the GearBest website but when I run gcode it moves a little then stops and makes a lot of noise. I tried changed the feed rate but that does not work. Did you have to install the grbl on the Arduino that came with it?
(I am usign GRBL Controller 3.6.1).

Any help would be appreciated.

Me: You can check the gate voltage. If it's on HIGH, the MOSFET resistance is low, thus the voltage between source and drain must be (nearly) zero. Vice versa, if the gate voltage is (nearly) zero, the voltage across source and gate must be near the supply voltage.

Me: As long as I don't know anything about the electronics you have build it's impossible to tell you what software might work. Of course you can built DC motors with encoder feedback that can be controlled by step/direction pulses and so grbl will work. I will build electronics for such DC motor control in the coming weeks/months. If you'd like to write your own code, simply use a programming language you already know about.

Excellent. Now it's clear. Thank you. I have a 600x1800x18mm MDF panel. It's a standard size here. I wanted to be sure I could cut all the parts from this panel. It's a tight squeeze, but there is very little waste.

I have another question. The thin strip in the top left of the drawing of 5.7x60. Should I cut this shorter by 2x the panel thickness? Because it must fit between the two pieces 5.7x40 which are attached under the base panel.

Me: Another "Yes" and thanks. I have corrected the dimensions to 5.7x56.2cm (asuming 19mm chipboard as I have used). There is no waste, just pieces left to build something else ;-)

My first question: In the cutting drawing there is a triangle with 12x10 edges. Should I make two of these, as shown in fig.6? Also, there is a piece 15x15x7 at the bottom right of the drawing, and it appears in fig.27. What is it for?

Me: I won't continue working on this version of my CNC software. Instead I am writing a new one processing Gcode. The meaning of the keys send to the Arduino is written in the source code of the Arduino.ino:
'a' is advance rate and should better be named feedrate. It's the pause between steps (=machine speed) while carving material.
's' reduces pause between motor steps, 'S' increases pause between motor steps
'x' and 'X' are returned if the homing switch of the x axis is open or not.
'g' and 'h' are experimental just to make the X axis spin with full speed.

Have you tried polishing the acrylic using a flame?
A rough cut edge looks brand new and pretty clear after passing over it with a propane torch.
Maybe can save some elbow grease.

Me: If you set the jumpers on the L298N board, you don't have to connect the enable pins to +5V as well. The jumpers are enough.

Me: So finally you could explain your problem - well done!
Simply use the jumpers between the EnableA and +5V as well as between EnableB and +5V pins on your L298N board. There is no need to connect them to the Arduino.

I was wondering what your thoughts are about this design and if you think it is suitable for 3dprinting (switching between 3d and cnc mill mode)

Me: Plastics doesn't result in the stiffest frame, however you can get a working CNC if you know about basic design principles. A good CNC is always a not so good 3D printer and vice versa. With the spindle drives you won't get high speed, which is needed for 3D printing. Even a very chap 3D printer (<200€) will have a better output (consider you must buy parts for the printer conversion as well).

Ich bedanke mich für eine fundierte Beschreibung und Beurteilung des Druckers. In absehbarer Zeit wird ein A5 bei mir eintreffen. Eigentlich habe ich ihn ohnehin mit dem Hintergedanken bestellt, "vor dem Gebrauch" die Qualität der beweglichen Mechanik zu überarbeiten und mir ist schon viel geholfen, wenn die Elektrik/Elektronik brauchbar ist und der Grundaufbau.
Man kann eben nicht zu den aufgerufenen Preisen erwarten, dass alles perfekt ist.

Me: Der A5 ist jetzt nicht so der Klassiker zum Rumbasteln, aber irgend etwas gibt's wie von dir angemerkt in dieser Preisklasse immer zu verbessern.

Hallo.
Habe mir einen i3 Mega zugelegt und heute auch zusammengebaut. Dann habe ich ihn in die Home Position gefahren und es hat durchgehend gerattert. Ich hatte die Vermutung, dass der kleine Endschalter an der X-Achse Matsch ist und habe ihn gegen den mitgelieferten ausgetauscht. Nichts. Mir ist aufgefallen, dass jeder Enschalter piept, wenn er gedrückt wird. Nur bei mir macht das der auf der X-Achse nicht. Eine Erklärung dafür?

Me: Ist der Stecker korrekt auf der Platine angebracht? Ersatzschalter war bei meinem Gerät keiner dabei. War das nur der Schalter oder komplett mit Kabel? Mit einem Durchgangsprüfer kann man die Funktion von Schalter und Kabel prüfen.
